“Kid’s Room” is Open

Friendship House Thrift Shop announced today the opening of their “Kid’s Room”.  Over the past months, the food pantry and thrift shop have undergone renovations to be able to serve the community better.  The “Kid’s Room” is one product of the month’s long work.  (For a more detailed description of the work, look for an upcoming article on Friendship House: Then and Now on our website News page).

The volunteers at Friendship House Thrift Shop have been working diligently to create a neat, organized and well stocked place for community members to shop.  Through generous donations, the stock is ever growing and gives a good variety from which to choose.  There are items for babies to older kids; outfits, shirts, onesies, underwear, sweaters and jackets to name just a few.   Many growing families find great clothing for prices unheard of in other shops.  Here, children’s clothing prices range from twenty five cents to two dollars.  Shoppers can often find special occasion wear for children as well.

“Dedicating a room for children’s items makes a lot of sense,” says Cathy Guattery, Thrift Shop Manager. She says,  “Making it easy for shoppers and children was our goal.  The room is organized by size and we have an area for kids to sit down and read or color while the adults shop.”

The “Kid’s Room” opened today and is well stocked.  If there’s a kid in your life, stop by to shop.  You’ll get some great bargains while knowing your purchases support the Friendship House Food Pantry and all our community programs.
